If you squint hard enough, you can find the measely red line representing Singapore’s Government donation to the Haiti victims.
Wow. A country with Ministers being paid millions of dollars, lose hundreds of million in investment projects( something with Manhatten inside) and they can’t afford to donate a more significant sum.
Let’s take the numbers into account here, there are currently about 100,000 casulties in Haiti as of right now. $50,000 for 100,000 casulaties. Simply wonderful eh! Just because Haiti doesn’t play a part in our economy and is not a strategic partner thus we donate just to show the world we care?
Let’s look at the Banda Aceh Tsunami. Singapore donated aproximately $30 million in aid and relief teams when the disaster hit. However, for Haiti, it’s just $50,000. As per the newspaper article title, “Friends In Need” indeed.
